Short Bedtime Stories #1 – Iron Mark & The Light House

Two years ago I started telling short bedtime stories to my son, who is obsessed with the Avengers, Iron Man in particular. It is not just him, I also am a big Marvel fan so, of course, every night is a superhero bedtime story. Just yesterday I thought of writing them down because every night is a different story and maybe when he is older, he will like to read them and get back in time.

I am not a professional writer, just a father that loves his son very much and loves inventing and telling him bedtime stories.

In the future I will write the Iron Tato & Iron Mark’s origin stories 😀

Short Bedtime Stories #1 – Iron Mark & The Light House

It was spring when Mark went on a long camping trip, to explore North Norway with his Mom and Dad. They had a small caravan that was easy to tow, so they used it as a campervan. They were touring with it, parking it where ever was permitted, not just on campsites.

This particular day, they parked by the shore, very close to the Norwegian sea, just across a small island with an old light house.

They set up the camp to make their stay nice and cozy and went to check out the light house while the sea was calm. Mark helped his dad unpack the Iron Kayak and they were off towards the island. Mommy waved at them and went in the caravan to prepare Mark’s bed for the night.

Mark’s father was an engineer that was building all sorts of cool stuff. He was an expert in nano tech and Mark was following his steps, wanting to become an engineer like him.

Since Mark’s dad was good at creating things, the kayak didn’t need ores, it had a rocket engine bellow that made it the fastest kayak in the world. The Iron Kayak had red and gold color, a style made popular by Tato’s best friend, Tony Stark. It was also made with nano tech, technology that the two engineers had perfected.

The moment they landed on the white sand beach, one eyed man welcomed them with a big smile on his face.

He was a pirate long ago, but decided that he wanted to do good and moved here where he will maintain the light house and still be close to the water and boats.

After the short tour of the island and enjoying the spectacular view from the light house, Mark and Tato said good bye to the one eyed pirate and headed towards the Iron Kayak and the caravan.

Mark had his dinner, brushed his teeth and went to bed to listen an Avengers bedtime story, filled with excitement and adventure told by his father.

Somewhere in the middle of the story, they heard a call from help, coming from a distance.

Help! Please help! The beacon doesn’t work! The sailors are in trouble! – Yelled the pirate.

We need to help him! Suit up! – Yelled Tato as he was looking for his tools box.

Both of them, Iron Tato and Iron Mark, just double tapped the nano bots case on their chests and the iron suit formed over their bodies. They activated their jet boots and repulsor rays and were off towards the island.

Son, I will go and fix the beacon, you find the ship in danger. – Iron Tato told Mark.

Iron Mark asked for extra boost from Friday, his in-helmet AI best friend and was headed with super sonic speed towards the open sea.

He had problem locating the exact boat headed towards light house so he asked help from Friday.

Friday, please scan all the vessels and find out which one is navigating towards us.

It’s the green cruise ship, it has 1200 passengers! – Replied Friday.

Iron Mark flew towards the ship, approached the navigation cabin where the captain stood, surprised seeing a superhero show up in front of him.

You are in grave danger! The light house is out of function, please follow me. I will turn on 2 flashing lights on my back so you can see me clearly. I will lead you towards the port.

The captain nodded in agreement and follow Iron Mark towards safety.

It took some time before the boat was safely moored and Iron Mark was relived that all went well.

You are the greatest superhero! Thank you in the name of my crew and passengers, you saved our lives.

Iron Mark waved at them, activated the thrusters and was off towards the light house to inform the pirate and his dad that all is good.

Iron Tato and the pirate were already at the balcony with the beacon spinning behind them when Mark was closing on the light house.

I think we can say “mission complete” – Said Iron Tato

The boat has arrived safely. – Responded Mark

I can’t thank you enough! It was a miracle that superheroes are camping close to the light house exactly on this day. – Said the pirate

The Iron family shook hands with the one eyed man and flew together towards their caravan to finish the bedtime story.

Mark fell asleep, before the story ended, dreaming of his adventures and refuel his energy for the next day.
