I just finished telling this story to my son and he is off to sleep, so I decided to write it down while its fresh. This is Camping Bedtime Stories number two and is inspired by our recent caravanning trip to Scandinavia.

LEGO’s in the Forest – Camping Bedtime Stories #2
One time, Mark and his family were camping in a beautiful forest in the Swedish Arctic circle, close to a river with an amazing turquoise water. Their Adria caravan was parked on flat patch of land surrounded by tall evergreen trees, that gave them very nice and cozy ambient.
Helping his father set up the camp was something that Mark was always looking for when they were touring. He was always helping with lowering the caravan’s supporting legs and hammering the awning anchors, sometimes even gathering dry wood for fire.
Mark took out his LEGOs and started playing his fantasy adventures with mini figures. Most of the time he was playing with his Avengers figures, but this time he used the classic bricks and was building the Stark tower.
During the game his mom called him inside for lunch. He instantly dropped what he was doing and rushed inside for a tasty meal. Grilled fish and rice was his favourite dish, so he happily ditched his play.
After the lunch, he quickly went out again to continue his game, but his legos were gone.
Tato, my lego is GONE! – Yelled Mark
What? How come? Let’s ask around, maybe some of the animals saw something. – Tato comforted him.
They put on their shoes and were off, first asking their closest neighbour the Owl, who was having his siesta in the nearby tree.
Excuse mister Owl, but did you see anybody carrying lego bricks? – asked Mark
Hmmm, I saw the fox coming from your direction, but she wasn’t carrying anything. – replied the Owl
Mark and his dad thanked the Owl and continued further until they reached the fox den.
The fox was working in her garden when the two of them arrived and by their long faces, she knew that something was wrong.
How can I help you neighbours?
Please dear madam fox, tell us if you saw somebody passing by and carrying legos? Mine disappeared from our porch. – Replied Mark
Unfortunately I didn’t, but mister squirrel just passed by my house carrying lots of nuts. He was walking slowly because of the heavy load, so probably you can catch up with him and ask if he saw something.
After thanking the fox, they were hasting to reach the busy squirrel.
Mister squirrel, wait up.
The moment the squirrel stopped and turned, Mark spotted a blue lego picking trough the nuts.
Hey, where did you get that blue brick? – Mark asked the squirrel.
Oh, this, I found it just besides the river, where the beavers are constructing a dam. Is it edible?
Mark ignored the squirrel’s question and ran towards the river with his father.
He found the beavers working hard all over the dam, putting everything they have found in the forest onto it.
In the middle of the construction, between a group of thick oak branches Mark spotted his legos. A neat supporting wall was built with the bricks for holding the branches, it was also giving an artistic look to the dam.
Excuse me mister beaver, but you have used my toys for your dam, I would like them back. – Mark addressed the builders.
Oh no way, these are the best materials, (after stones of course), we have ever found in this forest. – Replied the beavers.
What if me and my dad help you out with building the dam? Would you then return my toys? – Asked Mark
Hmm, well you are bigger and stronger, you can actually carry stones… OK, we have a deal.
The father and son jumped in to the river and started working with the beavers. They were very quick and effective that when the beavers saw them work, they sat down and took a time off.
Mark didn’t complain at all, he wanted the legos so badly that he was working like a real stone mason.
Just before sunset, the group was finished with the construction. They have completed the dam in a record time and the beaver family return the legos to Mark, shaking his hand and offering him a full time job with them. He politely refused.
Mark & Tato were super tired. They rushed back to their caravan, removed the wet clothes and slid under the bed cover, falling a sleep the moment the pillows were under their heads.
