Enjoy reading it and Good night.

Bedtime story

Mark enjoyed spending time on the lookout tower next to his family’s ranch in Lapland. He had fun using his binoculars and camera to observe and photograph the wildlife surrounding their property.

One day, while his binoculars were pointed at the lake, he spotted a huge fish jumping from the water. The fish was so big, that he instantly new that it was a rainbow trout.

Mark sped down the tower to find his dad and convince him to go fishing.

His father loved fishing and was very easy to be convinced to go down to the lake, he never doubted Mark’s spotting.

They went to the shed, packed their fishing rods and in minutes they were in their boat, rowing towards the deep end of the lake.

It didn’t take long before Mark started shouting that he is “ON”. He was experienced fisherman, so he knew how to fight with the fish and not lose it.

After 15 minutes of struggle, the massive trout was in the boat, making Mark the big winner.

Dear fishermen, if you be kind enough to let me go, I promise that I will deliver three fish on your dock every second day. Forever! – The fish started talking.

Mr. Fish, you got yourself a deal. Mom will be happy!

And like that, Mark and his family were nicely fed every second day with fresh fish for almost a year, until suddenly the delivery stop without a word from the trout.

The family loved eating fish and since they couldn’t rely on the trout for the promised deliveries anymore, they went to the local market to buy.

The moment they entered the market, in the huge live fish aquarium, they saw the big trout from the lake. Trying to swim in the tight space, the fish looked sad and scared.

Mark and his family got close to the aquarium and asked the trout what happened.

The fish told them the whole story, how a local fisherman caught it and didn’t believe when the trout offered the same deal to him and brought it to the market to be sold.

We will buy you and bring you back to the lake! – said Mark

But when they asked the seller for the price, he said that the fish was already sold and he is waiting for the costumer to come and pick it up.

This didn’t disappoint Mark as much as it disappointed the fish, he was determined to save the fish and decided to stay in the market and try to buy the fish from the costumer.

After two long hours, the buyer came to pick up his trout. The moment he introduced himself on the counter, Marked approached him and straightforward asked him if he can buy the fish instead of him.

I am sorry little man, but I really want this fish. – said the costumer.

Mark didn’t stop and took the issue even further.

What if we offer you that every second day we will deliver you fresh fish for a year? – Mark had a proposal.

Well mister, I cannot say no to that. We have a deal! – the costumer answered happily.

With this, the matter was settled and Mark’s family bought the fish. They drove quickly back home, parked the car and went straight down to the lake to release it in the water.

The fish was happily jumping in the water for minutes before approaching back the dock from where it was released and where Mark was standing.

Thank you Mark! I know that you offered you own fish for my life and for that I will reward you. Instead of three, I will deliver five fish every second day. Three for your family, one for the costumer and one extra for you to sell to the market. You used your money and was willing to lose one free meal for my life, for that I a grateful and this is my way of repaying you. Thank you!

With that, the trout dived into lake and swam into the deep.

The promise was kept as agreed, also a new friendship was forged.
